Safety and Netiquette Lesson
Activity 1
Welcome to ThinkQuest, an online learning community of students and teachers from around the world. As new members of this community, we're going to review and discuss how to behave in the web community. Just like there are rules and guidelines wherever we go, there are rules and guidelines when we visit the web. Let's start with why we need guidelines and rules. Take a look at the three pictures below and be prepared to answer the following questions:
- What do these pictures mean?
- How are they useful?
- Why do we have rules?
- What kinds of rules do we have? At home? At school? In our community?
- How do rules and guidelines help us?
- How are rules enforced?
Activity 2 - The Web makes us all neighbors.
The web creates an online community where we're all neighbors. How should we treat our neighbors? How would we like our neighbors to treat us? Share your ideas about ways we should treat our "web neighbors."
